berry picking on sauvie island

This past weekend I trekked out to Sauvie Island for a day adventure with the boy. We stumbled across a berry farm and realized oh my, strawberries are in season! So of course we had to stop and pick some - and taste along the way. Hey, the owner encouraged us to taste test! We picked about 5 lbs. worth, which we later made into jam. It was tons of fun & it was only $1.50 a lb. That’s a pretty good deal!

Down the road we found a little lavender farm, which was really just someone’s backyard. It was pretty. Unfortunately, the dude manning the farm was sitting in for the family while they were gone and said “I know nothing about lavender.” Dude, at least you’re honest.

We wrapped up our little adventure at another berry farm with a pint of beer. I can’t remember what this place was called but it was pretty huge – they had a farmer’s market of sorts and served beer & food.

Have you made it out to Sauvie Island yet this season?
